Description
Kota Stone is a fine-grained variety of limestone, quarried at Kota district, Rajasthan, India. Hundreds of mines are located in or near the town of Ramganj Mandi and in the Kota district. The greenish-blue and brown colours of this stone contribute to its popularity. Other colors are black, pink, grey, and beige.
Kota stone is hard, tough, oil resistant, and non-water absorbent, non-slippery and have excellent stone resolvability. They are available in slabs and tiles form and can be set in any pattern of flooring.
Kota stone is used in two finishes i.e. rough dress and polished finish. It is an excellent building stone for Pathways, Corridors, Driveways, Commercial buildings. It is also used in chemical industries due to its resistant properties.
Kota stone is a good case in point. This excellent flooring material travels all over India from Rajasthan, hence theoretically not so eco-friendly, but being natural lime stone and suited to a variety of conditions, it fares better than most local options.
