Wheat Flour Exports from India Allowed Under Advance Authorization Scheme
Under the advance authorization scheme, the Indian government has decided to permit the export of wheat flour by export-oriented units and businesses in special economic zones (SEZs).
According to the Directorate General of Foreign Trade(DGFT), these companies can only export wheat flour made from imported wheat; flour made from domestically sourced wheat is not permitted.
The action was taken after wheat processors had previously requested import authorization from the government in an effort to export value-added products.
An advance authorization scheme permits the duty-free import of components that must be required to be used in goods that must be exported within a certain time frame. They are not permitted to market the goods domestically.
