The lowbed trailers or otherwise known as lowboy, low-loader, and float trailers, are an unique kind of vehicles being able to carry extremely heavy and voluminous loads. These unlike semi-trailers consist of two drops in deck height: one right after the gooseneck and one right before the wheels. This feature makes the vehicles so much different from the others and allows it to carry legal loads up to 12 ft (3.66 m) tall. The fixed-neck trailers are light weight but because of their fixed neck, the ability to detach and load over the front is sacrificed. The Hydraulic detachable gooseneck trailers are considered the fastest and easiest to detach but at the expense of weight and deck length. It is the most common and versatile of lowboy trailers. The Mechanically-detachable gooseneck trailers are used for long specialty hauls. The mechanical folding gooseneck trailers have the ability to fold the deck down to the ground level and to provide a ramp for trailer loading.
