The Datsun 720 made its debut on the marketplace in 1979 as a replacement for the previous cargo-passenger model Datsun with the index of 620. Just at this time, the process of renaming the "Datsuns" in the "Nissan" began: first in Japan, and then in other countries. As a result, the Datsun 720 became the last model released under this brand (in 2013 the brand was reintroduced on the marketplace), it was sold under the name Datsun 720, and under the name Nissan 720. Initially, the Datsun 720 was produced only in the rear-wheel drive version, but in 1980 it had a variant with a four-wheel drive. Later, based on this model, the first-generation Nissan Pathfinder was created. The Datsun 720 was equipped with in-line petrol four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines in volume from 1.5 to 2.4 liters, as well as diesel "quartets" of 2.3 and 2.5 liters. The Datsun 720 trucks were produced in factories in Japan and in the USA until 1985.
