The rear-wheel-drive sports car Datsun 280ZX was produced in Japan from 1976 to 1983. The car was equipped with in-line six-cylinder engines in the volume of 2,0 or 2,8 liters in a combination to a mechanical or automatic transmission. Known as the Nissan 280ZX in export markets, the car continued to be called «Fairlady» on the Japanese market. It had a 2-liter inline six-cylinder engine and first appeared in 1978. The only thing that remained unchanged compared to the previous Datsun 280Z was the 5-speed manual gearbox and the 2.8-liter inline six-cylinder engine of the L28, while the entire car was made more luxurious in order to accommodate the growing demands. The main changes of the new generation include the T-top, which appeared in 1980, and the turbocharged model, which appeared in 1981. In combination with a 3-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission, the turbocharged model is capable of developing 180 hp. A noteworthy model was a version created to the tenth anniversary, with gold emblems, gold wheeled alloy wheels, and in two body colors red and black, with leather seats, headlight washers and automatic climate control. The Datsun 280ZX was very popular making a record sales of 86,007 units in only the first year. Nowadays, the Datsun cars are as well popular among classic sports cars.
